High School Event
Students from five south Orange County, CA high schools visited Mission
Hospital for a career day featuring an opportunity to test drive a robot.
The students rotated through stations where physicians, surgical technicians,
nurses and physical therapists shared what led them to their chosen career,
discussed their work at Mission Hospital and explained how technology
has impacted their work in health care.
One of the sessions focused on surgeons and robotic surgery which included
the opportunity for students to experience the da Vinci Xi Surgical System
first hand. The da Vinci Xi is a robotic assisted surgical device that
allows the surgeon to operate with enhanced vision, precision, dexterity
and control. Surgeons at Mission Hospital utilize the da Vinci Xi Surgical
System for general surgery and other surgical specialties including thoracic,
gynecology, head and neck, and urology.
